What is Vehicle Accident Physical Therapy?

If you have been in a vehicle accident, you know that all manner of things can happen in those moments. You can suffer whiplash, neck injuries, back injuries, and broken bones, just to name a few. You may have injuries or concerns that appear days after the accident, even though they were not obvious immediately afterwards. This is one of the reasons why vehicle accidents are so challenging and pose so many problems for people.

Vehicle accident physical therapy can be part of the treatment plan after you have been in a vehicle accident. This treatment is ideal for those underlying musculoskeletal injuries that may not appear right away after your vehicle accident. We work with you to determine what type of vehicle accident therapy is right for you. Once we make those determinations, we can put together a treatment program. Vehicle accident physical therapy is dedicated to helping to strengthen, as well as repair, the muscles and tissues in your body that were damaged as a result of a vehicle accident. When you have been in a major accident, you may need help relearning how to do basic everyday skills, such as buttoning your shirt or brushing your teeth.

When you are assessed for vehicle accident therapy, we will determine exactly what type of treatment will suit you and your needs best. During vehicle accident physical therapy you may receive manual therapy which will help to mobilize your joints, reduce inflammation in the joints, remove scar tissue and encourage overall healing of the tissue. You may do exercises that are customized for your specific needs and limitations that will help relieve the pain you feel in your neck, back, shoulders, and spine. This will also help you build strength in those areas. You may also receive some postural training which also helps to reduce the pain in your back, neck, and shoulders.
